The Pharmacology Discipline of the Faculty of Medicine started its activity in the academic year 1972/1973, initially with Associate Professor PhD Victor Voicu and Assistant Professor PhD Valentin Cirlig, and in 1974 Assistant Professor PhD Florica Popescu joined the staff.
Starting with the second semester of the academic year 1992/1993, with the departure of Prof. PhD Victor Voicu to U.M.F. Bucharest, the head of the discipline became Associate Professor PhD Valentin Cîrlig.
In 1992 Andrei Adrian Tica was admitted as an assistant and in 1994, also as an assistant, Cristian Corneliu Georgescu.
In 1999, Prof. PhD Florica Popescu became head of Pharmacology at the Faculty of Dentistry.

In 2000 the staff of the discipline was increased by the admission of Roxana Alice Văduva, also as an assistant professor.
Since 2004 the activity in the discipline of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine has been led by Prof. PhD Andrei Adrian Tica.
Also in 2004, Prof. Florica Popescu was appointed Head of Pharmacology at the Faculty of Pharmacy and, also in the same year, Associate Professor PhD Cristian Corneliu Georgescu became Head of Pharmacology at the Faculty of Dentistry.
In 2006 Oana Sorina Bănică became assistant professor at the Pharmacology discipline, Faculty of Medicine, and later in 2008 she was appointed assistant professor at the same discipline, Faculty of Dentistry.
Since 2013 the discipline has had a new assistant professor Miss Andreea Lili Bărbulescu.
The work of the discipline takes place during the third year, over two semesters, comprising 15 lectures and 15 practical works per semester.
Starting in 2014, General Pharmacology will take place during the second semester of the third year and Special Pharmacology during the first semester of the fourth year of study.
