Over the years, the Radiology and Medical Imaging team has been distinguished by the publication of a large number of scientific papers, both nationally and internationally, as well as by the annual participation of the entire team in major national and international conferences. In addition, the Radiology and Medical Imaging discipline has been responsible for the organisation of three intercounty and two national conferences (September 1991, September 2002), as well as the 2023 edition of the National Congress of Radiology and Medical Imaging held in Craiova, where it was possible to hold an ESOR (European School of Radiology) course.

The Radiology and Medical Imaging Group is particularly interested in Artificial Intelligence and is involved in numerous research activities in this field, which are aimed at the following pathologies: lung pathology (lung nodule detection + COVID-19), musculoskeletal pathology, breast cancer, prostate cancer, etc.

The Radiology and Medical Imaging Discipline has undergone significant development as a result of the TARGET project (Research and Treatment Centre in Gastroenterology based on imaging methods and molecular studies), carried out between 31.03.2010 and 30.06.2013.

Other projects involving the Radiology and Medical Imaging team:

  • 2022-2023: ”Innovative method for assessment and management of patients with cardiomyopathies”

  • 2022-2023: "Identification and classification of lung nodules using high-resolution CT techniques and artificial intelligence solutions".

  • 2021-2023: "Development of computerized diagnostic imaging software using artificial intelligence for the detection of COVID-19 based on CT lung appearance"

  • 2020-2023: Programmes for prevention, early detection, early diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer - phase II.

  • „Innovative integrated diagnostic algorithm in vascular pathology of the carotid territory/ALGOINTEG”
