We prepare the medical world of tomorrow by:

• basic, academic training in the medical and pharmaceutical sciences, at the current level of knowledge and national needs, through the day courses of the component structures;
• providing continuing postgraduate training for specialists in the medical and pharmaceutical fields;
• promoting and supporting bio-medical scientific research as a major activity of the institution;
• providing health services for the community through members of the academic staff, in the public and/or private sector, on the basis of individual contracts with service funders, but also through its own highly specialized services;
• methodological guidance of activities to promote, support and assist the health of the population and scientific research in the South-West (Oltenia) economic and social development region of Romania;
• interactive generation, through a sustained pedagogical, clinical and research activity, of new acquisitions in the field of life sciences, medicine and humanities, thus contributing to the enrichment of the knowledge heritage;
• strengthening its position as a regional leader in the development and implementation of national and European policies in the fields of education, healthcare and related areas;
• to promote the values of Romanian higher education in general, and medical education in particular, internationally.
