The discipline of HISTOLOGY began its activity with the academic year 1971/1972, with the first year II of students at the Faculty of General Medicine of the University of Craiova. The post of head of the discipline was occupied by the Head of the Department Dr. Ion Roșculescu, primary anatomopathologist at Hospital no. 1 in Craiova. Since 1974 the Head of Histology has been appointed, by competition, as Head of Works Florin Bogdan, transferred from IMF Iasi. He was promoted to university lecturer in 1978 and then university professor in 1990. Since 1991 he has been a PhD supervisor and since 1992 a pathology residency supervisor. In 1997 he was appointed Professor Emeritus and in 1999 Doctor Honoris Causa.
ÎIn 1972 the first assistant to the histology discipline, Dr. Radu Ioan, was hired, promoted to head of works in 1980 and Associate Professor in 1991. In 1998 he became a professor at the Histology Department of the Faculty of Medicine at the Transilvania University of Brasov. In 1973, Dr. Irina Stoicescu was appointed by competition as assistant professor, currently Professor in the discipline of Dermatology.
In 1976, Dr Teofil Mehedinți was appointed assistant professor in Histology and was promoted to head of the works in 1980. In 1990 he was transferred to the post of Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the Ovidius University of Constanta.
Dr. Ștefania Crăițoiu was hired by competitive examination as an assistant professor in Histology in 1983; she was promoted to head of works in 1990, then to associate professor in 1993 and professor in 1998.
Dr. Laurențiu Mogoantă was appointed Assistant Professor in 1990, Head of Works in 1984, Associate Professor in 1999, and Professor since 2003. He was elected Head of the Department of Histology - Morphopathology - Cell Biology and Medical Genetics in the 1999-2000 academic year.
In 1990 Dr. Adriana Bold was hired by competition as a university assistant, she was promoted head of works in 1999, in 2003 she became Associate Professor, and subsequently University Professor.
Also in 1990, Dr. Monica Baniță, currently Professor of Histology at the Faculty of Dentistry, UMF Craiova, was hired as an assistant professor.
In the academic year 1990 - 1991, the following were promoted by competition to the Histology discipline, to the position of preparator: Dr. Mirescu Nicolae, currently primary doctor of forensic medicine at Tirgoviste County Hospital and Dr. Mateescu Garofița Olivia, currently Associate Professor at the Histology discipline of the Faculty of Medicine, UMF Craiova.
In 1998, Dr. Cristina Busuioc was promoted to the position of assistant professor, currently Associate Professor of Histology.
Since 1999, Dr. Siloși Isabela (PhD student, speciality Histology), currently university professor in the Immunology Department of the Faculty of Medicine, UMF Craiova, has been working in this field.
In March 2003, Dr. Nina Ionovici, currently Associate Professor in the field of Occupational Medicine, was hired by competition as Assistant Professor.
In July 2003, Dr. Anca Mihaela Predescu, currently head of works in the Histology Department of the Faculty of Dentistry, UMF Craiova, was hired by competitive examination as assistant professor.
ÎIn March 2007, Dr. Bogdan Oprea and Dr. Daniel Nicolae Pirici were hired by competition for the position of university preparator, currently head of works and university professor in the discipline.
