METHODOLOGY OF ADMISSION TO STUDIES FOR CITIZENS FROM MEMBER STATES OF EUROPEAN UNION, FROM THE EUROPEAN ECONOMIC AREA AND SWISS CONFEDERATION AND FROM NON EU STATES

 

ENGLISH STUDY PROGRAMS

2019-2020

 

 

 

I. Eligibility requirements

 

Can get into the national education system, those citizens from member states of European Union, from the European Economic Area and Swiss Confederation, as well as citizens from Non EU states, who:

Ø have documents that certify the citizenship of the state of origin and who require the enrollment to studies in Romania on own expenses;

Ø have study documents issued by educational institutions recognized in the country of origin;

Ø submitted the file by the deadline established by this Methodology.

 

II. Number of places allocated to programmes of study on own expenses after the selection process:

 

Ø Medicine (study programme – Medicine in English) – 50 places (35 places for citizens from member states of European Union, from the European Economic Area and Swiss Confederation; 15 places for citizens from Non EU states);

 

III. Admission program: Admission program to studies on own expenses at University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova for the academic year 2019/2020:

 

Ø 3rd of June 2019 - opening of the registration of files;

Ø 19th of July 2019 (date of arrival in the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova) - deadline of registration the submitted files (no completing will be accepted after this date);

Ø 31st of July 2019 - publication of results on the University’s website after the preselection of candidates;

Ø 30th of August 2019 - confirmation of the place of the accepted candidates, by paying the EUR 100 fee for the English language test; Candidates who will not confirm payment of the English language fee up to this date (30 August 2019) will be declared rejected and seats will be filled by candidates in the decreasing order of the scores of the competition files;

Ø 25th / 27th of September 2019 - language test (the test is mandatory for all candidates and will be marked as Passed/Failed);

Ø 1st - 8th of October 2019 - eligible candidates must reserve their place by paying half of the annual tuition fee of the study program they chose for; Important! For citizens that is mandatory to have a study visa in order to enter in Romania, they will pay the full amount of tuition fee for the academic year 2019/2020;

Ø 1st of November 2019: deadline of enrollment for the accepted candidates.

 

 

IV. Submitted files processing fees and tuition fees for Medicine in English study programme


The processing fee for the submitted contest file is 200 euros.

For candidates who hold a Baccalaureate diploma obtained in Romania (graduates of a high school in Romania) the processing fee for the submitted contest file is 100 euros.

 

File procesing fee for all the candidates is non-refundable and has to be paid in the following account:

The tuition fee for Medicine in English is 5.000 euros/year and may  suffer changes during the study years with the approval of the  Senate of UMF Craiova.  The English language exam fee was set at € 100, and will be paid only  by candidates declared admitted after the selection of the  competition files.

 

V. Registration to entrance examination:

 

The files of candidacy will be sent to the University’s Registry Office only by postal services (2 Petru Rares street, Craiova municipality, Dolj county, Romania, postal code 200349)

The files will not be submitted personally.

 

 

For the the citizens from member states of European Union, from the European Economic Area and Swiss Confederation, the file of candidacy must contain the following documents:

 

1. Application Form 2019-2020

2. Request letter for recognition of high school studies (Certificate) in order to be accepted into university studies for European citizens2 filled in copies 

3. Europass CV

4. Receipt of the payment for the file processing fee

5. University Application Essay - maximum 400 words - describing his or her personal and professional motivation in the chosen field of study; the essay is mandatory and constitutes an important selection criteria. Editing the essay will be done on the computer using the Times New Roman font of 12, spaced 1.5 rows and will be mandatory dated and signed by the candidate

6. English language proficiency certificate, a minimum B2 level issued by an accreditated institution

Exempt from the certificate submission, citizens coming from countries where the official language is English

7. Study Diploma (authenticated with the Hague Apostille or by the Romanian’s diplomatic authorities from the candidate’s country of origin) - copy and 2 translations authenticated to a Notary – which allows the acces of the candidate to university studies (diploma of high school or its equivalent)

The candidates who have passed the Baccalaureate examination in the sessions corresponding to the academic year 2019-2020 may submit, instead of the Baccalaureate diploma, a certificate issued by the high school, mandatory specifying the grade point average of the Baccalaureate examination, the passed subjects, grades  and the validity term of the certificate; They will also provide a statement given before a public notary with the term for presenting the high school diploma!

 

Important!  Hague Apostille is requested for diplomas from countries which are parties to the Hague Apostille, issued by the competent authorities in the issuing countries. Hague Apostille Convention is requested for diplomas from Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal and Cyprus.

 

Diplomas issued in countries which are not parties to the Hague Apostille shall be authenticated or accompanied by an authentication certificate from by the competent authorities in the issuing countries;

·  Legalization/Authentication is done by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the issuing country and the Embassy/Consular Office of Romania in the issuing country or by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the issuing country and the issuing country’s Embassy/Consular Office in Romania; for countries where Romania does not have a diplomatic mission or countries which do not have diplomatic missions in Romania, the study documents shall be legalized by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the issuing country

·   Legalization/Authentication exemption is allowed under the law of an international treaty to which Romania is party or on a reciprocity basis.

8.  Other documents relevant for the selection (e.g. volunteer certificate)

9. Transcript of records for all the high school years - copy and 2 translations authenticated to a Notary

10. Birth certificate - copy and 2 translations authenticated to a Notary

11. Passport copy - valid for at least 6 months after the date when the certificate of recognition of high school studies was issued by the Ministry of National Education of Romania + personal Identity Document (document attesting the residence abroad)

12. Medical certificate and psychological evaluation (in an international language) that prove the person who will enroll to studies is clinically healthy (result of general physic examination) and certifies that the person enrolling in the studies does not suffer from contagious diseases or other conditions incompatible with the future profession

13. 6 passport sized photos

14. Datasheet verification signed by the candidate which includes all the checked points

***15. Only for the romanian citizens residing in non-EU countries or for the romanian citizens that have also another citizenship - the file must contain a written statement authenticated to a Notary that they want to study at University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova as self supported fee-based students and that they acknowledge on their rights and obligations and that is their personal choice to study as foreign citizens on own expenses in the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova.

 

All the documents requested at points 1-15 are mandatory!

Will not be permited to receive files or completions to files after the deadline, 19th of July 2019!

The files from which are missing requested documentes are automatically rejected!

 

For the citizens from NON-EU states:

 

1. Application Form 2019-2020

2. Request letter for the recognition of high school studies (Letter of Acceptance) in order to be accepted into univeristy studies for Non European citizens2 filled in copies  

3. Europass CV

4. Receipt of the payment for the file processing fee

5. University Application Essay - maximum 400 words - describing his or her personal and professional motivation in the chosen field of study; the essay is mandatory and constitutes an important selection criteria. ***16. Only for the romanian citizens residing in non-EU countries or for the romanian citizens that have also another citizenship - the file must contain a written statement authenticated to a Notary that they want to study at University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova as self supported fee-based students and that they acknowledge on their rights and obligations and that is their personal choice to study as foreign citizens on own expenses in the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova.

VI. Selection process

 

VI.1. Analysis of the submitted files will be done after 19th of July 2019, deadline, by the Admission Committee.

VI.2. Candidate selection will be done in decreasing order of the gained points, regarding the table of the selection criteria.

VI.3. All the selected candidates must participate at the English language test, in late September. The test will be marked with Passed/Failed.

VI.4. University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova reserves the right, depending on the number of candidates, to organize a test of general knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.

Evidence of extracurricular activities:

-         proven volunteer activity (Red Cross, professional experience in areas related to medicine, etc.)

University Application Essay

maximum 400 words - computer using the Times New Roman font of 12, spaced 1.5 rows - maximum 1 page A4 format

The essay will be evaluated by the Admission Committee

 

 

VII. All the eligible candidates, after completing the selection process must come to the University’s International Office with the original diploma/certificate of studies  (high school diploma or its equivalent), authenticated with the Hague Apostille or by the Romanian’s diplomatic authorities from the candidate’s country of origin -  for final registration.

 

Final enrollment will be done only after receiving the letter of acceptance/certificate of recognition of high school studies from the Ministry of National Education of Romania.
