Between 24 and 26 of September 2014, has been held in Bucharest the National Congress of Romanian Society of Medical Genetics, congress which benefited from the attendance of appreciated field specialists from Europe and USA.  At the congress presentations, to which attended specialists in medical genetics, also attended on 26 of September the Secretary of State of Health, Mr. Nicolae Banicioiu.

 

 

Regarding the issues of the genetic pathology and the situation of medical genetics in Romania, there were debated some of the aspects implicated in the urgent necessity for the establishment of the Medical Genetics network inside the health care system of our country. In the presence of Prof. Dr. Marius Bembea, head of the Genetics Committee of the State of Health Office, Prof. Dr. Puiu Maria, head of the Romanian Society of Medical Genetics and a large part of the resident doctors and specialists in the field, the Secretary of State of Health discussed some issues with them and, also, this way he sent a message about the unlimited support regarding the need for applying some definite measures and also about the promotion of an MS Order for the establishment of the current situation of this specialty and for the founding of regional centres, very much needed  for solving public health issues. So, it is considered the establishment of 6 regional centres in Timisoara, Bucuresti, Cluj, Oradea, Iasi and Craiova.

 

At the congress, also attended Mrs. Dorica Dan, president of the National Alliance of the Rare Diseases Association (ANBRaRo), who expressed the need for support from the Romanian patient associations in solving the issues regarding the national genetics network. Mr. Nicolae Banicioiu noticed and appreciated the collaboration between ANBRaRo and the genetic department.
