TEMPUS
Tempus (Trans-European mobility scheme for university studies) is addressed to the former Soviet republics, countries of Western Balkans, North Africa, Middle East and Central Asia, aimed at supporting the modernization of higher education and creating a zone of cooperation among countries in proximity of the European Union.
Romania participated in the TEMPUS program since 1991 until 2000, with the support and assistance in developing institutional structures to improve strategies and educational policies in developing international cooperation in education, etc. Once admitted to the European Union, Romania fully participates as member.
Tempus IV program covers the period 2007 - 2013 and allows two types of actions:
- Joint European Projects - to develop strategic cooperative partnership by consortia of institutions from EU Member States and partner countries
- Individual Mobility Grants (Individual Mobility Grants) - for staff in higher education institutions to carry out certain specific activities in another country participating in the program.
